EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

Students at Little Elm Elementary were surveyed in June 2021 about their perceptions of their school in terms of Engagement, Academic Challenge, Instructional Methods, Culture, Belonging, and Relationships. In addition, students provided feedback about Project-Based Learning, STEM Education, Student Motivation, School Safety, Emotional and Mental Health, and Distance Learning.

In order to put student feedback into context, this report compares Little Elm Elementary students' ratings to the ratings from students at 694 other elementary schools across the country.

Compared to other participating elementary schools, Little Elm Elementary's highest rated themes were:

  • Engagement 
  • Relationships 

and the lowest rated themes were:

  • Belonging  
  • Instructional Methods

Compared to other participating elementary schools, Little Elm Elementary's highest rated question within the key themes was:

  • Do you learn interesting things in class? (which is in the Academic Challenge theme)

and the lowest rated question within the key themes was:

  • Do you feel like a real part of your school community? (which is in the Belonging theme)

Respondents also provided feedback about Project-Based Learning. For example, 50% of respondents responded positively to the question: Does what you learn school help you think about what you want to do when you grow up?

Respondents also provided feedback about STEM Education. For example, 40% of respondents responded positively to the question: Do hands-on projects about math or science?

Respondents also provided feedback about Student Motivation. For example, 39% of respondents responded positively to the question: Do you do your schoolwork, even if no one tells you to?

Respondents also provided feedback about School Safety. For example, 66% of respondents responded positively to the question: Do you feel safe in the hallways of the school?

Respondents also provided feedback about Emotional and Mental Health. For example, 46% of respondents responded positively to the question: When I'm feeling upset, there is an adult outside of school I can talk to.

Respondents also provided feedback about Distance Learning. For example, 27% of respondents responded positively to the question: So far this school year, do you like learning from home?
